What Type of Exercise Equipment is Right for Me?

How do you decide what type of exercise equipment is best going to help you lose weight? Here are some considerations:

Treadmill: When you use a treadmill, you do not need a lot of bells and whistles. Choose one that has incline options and speed options so that you can simulate different walking environments. A treadmill with preset workout options can also help, by automatically altering the incline and speed as if you were doing an interval workout.

Elliptical: Most elliptical machines are the same but with slight differences in their programs and features. These machines are meant to simulate running or upright biking without putting as much strain on the knees. Your legs make a full range of motion which is a great workout and there are a lot of different presets that you can experiment with depending on how light or hard of a workout you are looking for.

Cycle Machines: There are both upright cycle machines and recumbent machines. The recumbent style machines are ideal for people with back issues, allowing you to sit down while pedaling. They also offer presets that allow you to create different workout styles, and they typically incorporate magnetic resistance to make the pedaling easier or harder depending on your needs.

Weight Machines: Some of the all-in-one weight machines are beneficial, while others are not. If you are not interested in over paying for a huge machine, just buy a basic workout bench and some free weights. It requires more practice to get the weight lifting movements right, but the payoff is great because dumbbells are much cheaper than an all-in-one weight machine and can help you better achieve form on your own.
